Memories of Summer 2017

Hello again!
It's been a crazy summer around these parts.  Record breaking temperatures, and weeks when we  hardly didn't see the sun due to smoky skies, because of all the wildfires burning in our province.
It's great to have everyone in school and back into a routine again.  The temperature is cooler and the skies are smoke free again.
At the beginning of the summer I made a list of all the places I wanted to visit with the girls.  I truly didn't really think I'd actually hit every place on my list, but the last week of summer vacation I finally crossed off the last place on the list.  My main goal while making this list was to be tourist in our own province, and to visit some places either the girls and/or I had never been to.
Here is just a few pictures from each place we visited.
Our first stop was of course White Rock.  The first time was just with the two girls.
How cool is this stairs!

Next stop was Othello Tunnels.  Although the girls had been as babies, they obviously didn't remember this beautiful place.  It's incredible to see so much water moving through such a narrow place.  And the train tunnels are really fascinating to see. (Next time we'll bring a flash light!)

The girls really wanted to do a photo shoot, so we did a mini shoot at the beginning of August. These are two of my favorites from the shoot.

I've really missed Saturdays spent at horse events, so it was great to head out to Heritage park to watch Bernice and Charleen riding.  Charlynn worked the gate.

And it was off for our second visit to White Rock, this time with one of my nieces and her kids.

Looks like we found a sea anemone in one of the tide pools.

Charlynn was off of work when we planned to head of to Flood Hope falls and the Bridle Trail.  To call Flood Hope a falls was a little optimistic, as it was really more of a trickle.  But now that we know the way, we'll be going back again one there is enough rainfall.

The trails in the East Sector lands in Harrison are really beautiful.

Third trip to White Rock.  This time with more cousins.  It was a very warm, smoky day in the valley, so it was very hazy.
Cousins really do make the best of playmates!
It was fascinating to see the remains of a large Lions Mane Jellyfish

And no matter how old you are, it's always fun to see all the critters at the Chilliwack Fair.

The following week we went in search of Bosumarne Falls.  We missed the correct sign post, but enjoyed a gander up to Chilliwack Lake and Tamihi Creek.  Then on Saturday the 3 youngest kids and I actually went back and hiked up to the falls.

Jeremy took off of work to join us for a trip to Capilano Suspension bridge, Caulfield park and Granville Island.  Because it's Canada's 150th birthday, this year all BC residents get a year pass with a regular admittance.

Our fourth and final visit to White Rock.

I had wanted to take the girls for a ride on the ferry, since they've never been, but I thought this was something we'd have to do another time, but we ended up going to Nanaimo to help get Charlynn settled in for University.
